Chic Adventures: A Fashion-Filled Sister Shopping Day"

February 6, 2024/Micaela Thomas

Hey there, fellow shopping enthusiasts! Today, I'm thrilled to take you along on a sisterly shopping spree that had us positively buzzing with excitement! Our destination? The North Georgia Premium Outlet in Dawsonville, Georgia, just a short 45-minute jaunt from Atlanta. Boasting over 140 designer stores, including heavyweights like Versace, Gucci, and Burberry, this outlet promised a day packed with fashion-filled fun.

Despite the overwhelming number of stores to peruse, my sister and I had our sights set on a select few, armed with our savvy budgeting skills. First up on our agenda was The Cosmetics Company, affectionately known as "Beauty's Best-kept Secret." And let me tell you, it lived up to its name! With an irresistible 50% off sale storewide, coupled with an extra 15% discount, it was a paradise for beauty enthusiasts. My sister happily nabbed her coveted Killian perfume, "I Don't Need A Prince By My Side To Be A Princess," while I stumbled upon the largest Jo Malone candle I've ever seen, infused with the delightful scent of Pear & Freesia.

Next stop: the Coach store, where a jaw-dropping 60% off sale awaited us. Now, we all know Coach is renowned for its top-notch leather goods at affordable prices. Stepping inside, I was immediately tempted by an array of leather backpacks and tote bags, each one calling my name. Despite the allure, I managed to exercise restraint and stick to my budget like a pro.

Then came the moment I'd been eagerly anticipating: Stuart Weitzman. I'd been on the hunt for their iconic 50/50 boots for what felt like an eternity. These boots are legendary for their impeccable fit – something us ladies with muscular calves truly appreciate (IYKYK, right?). So, determined, I made a beeline for the Stuart Weitzman store at the outlet, heart racing with anticipation.

But alas, my hopes were dashed when I discovered they only had City Boots in stock. The kind sales associate gently broke the news: the outlet stores don't carry the coveted 50/50 boots. It was a bitter disappointment, but a valuable lesson learned.

If you've ever wondered about brands playing favorites with their merchandise, here's your proof. Stuart Weitzman reserves their 50/50 boots for their non-outlet stores, leaving us outlet shoppers longing from afar. Lesson learned, but at least I know where to turn for my next boot quest.

But the day took a turn for the better at Marc Jacobs. Their vibrant, whimsical store was a feast for the eyes, brimming with cute bags and accessories. I ended up snagging a simple black canvas tote bag that caught my eye.

As we left the outlet, shopping bags in tow, we decided to swing by HomeGoods. Let me tell you, if you're gearing up for spring, they've got all the patio furniture and planter pots you could ever want! Though my focus was on bathroom accessories for my newly renovated space, I left empty-handed this time around.

Nordstrom was up next, and while I was excited for a dose of luxury, stepping inside evoked a pang of nostalgia. I couldn't help but reminisce about the days when Nordstrom was bustling with activity, offering impeccable customer service and personalized styling sessions. Sadly, those days seem like a distant memory now. Instead, what greeted me was a scene reminiscent of Macy's – not that there's anything wrong with Macy's, of course. But Nordstrom has always been in a league of its own, on par with Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. It's high time they reclaim their throne and bring back what made them special – the attentive staff, the curated events, the sheer luxury that defined the Nordstrom experience.

Our final stop of the day was World Market, and what a delight it was! From art to mirrors to pillows, the store was a treasure trove of decorative accents. And let's not forget the wine and snack section – a must-visit! My sister and I got lost in the aisles, ogling at solid wood cabinets and debating over baskets for organizing.

In the end, it wasn't just about the shopping – it was about the quality time spent with my sister, making memories and indulging in our shared love for all things fabulous. Until next time, happy shopping, friends!
