Catherine & Co. Candles

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a true candle lover. I believe the right candle can set the mood or uplift you in ways other self-care products cannot. That said, imagine my excitement when I came across a black-owned candle brand based in Toronto. Catherine & Co. is led by Emeraude Domingos-Mbuku, who named the company in honor of her mother. Emeraude decided to hone in on her hobby of making candles during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She has created one of the most exciting candle brands I have encountered for a while.
Catherine & Co. are known for their funny candle names, interesting scent combinations, and use of wooden wicks. The candles are minimalist in presentation, with either white or black glass encasing the candle wax.
The use of wooden wicks is unique, and the wooden wicks offer a cleaner, smoke-free burn. Wooden wicks are more sustainable than cotton wicks and heat the coconut soy wax blend more evenly, allowing for longer burn times. Finally, the wooden wicks give a better fragrance throw than candles with cotton wicks.
The four candles I purchased from Catherine Co are:
Paipái with scent notes of mango, papaya, and coconut
Eucalipto with scent notes of eucalyptus, spearmint, and rosemary
This Candle Smells Like You Are Appreciated with scent notes of gardenia, honeysuckle, and Cedarwood
This Candle Smells Like The CNE Food Court with scent notes of lemon, vanilla, and white musk
My favorite candle by far is Eucalipto. I love how the scent of the candle is bright and fresh. I instantly feel uplifted and ready to conquer the day when I smell the aroma.
The total for my purchase came to $105.02 USD, which included $10.26 for shipping. Shop Catherine & Co. candles! You will not be disappointed.
