A Weekend in New Orleans

April 19, 2023/Micaela Thomas

As someone who loves to travel and explore new places, I recently had the pleasure of taking a weekend trip to New Orleans with my husband. And let me tell you, it was one for the books! One of the highlights of our trip was checking out some amazing local eateries. On our first day, we stumbled upon a black-owned eatery in Midcity called Up & Adam Eatz. It's the kind of place that just oozes warmth and comfort, and the food was out of this world. I ordered the Tchopitoulas Omelette, which was topped with a delicious sauce of crawfish, crab, green peppers, and onions. But the real star of the show was the honey butter biscuit that came with it. I could have eaten a dozen of those biscuits and been perfectly content!

On the second day, we made our way to Bearcat CBD, a breakfast restaurant in the Central Business District. The scallops and grits topped with fried oysters were an absolute dream, and the in-house made lemonades were the perfect complement to the meal. But what really made Bearcat CBD stand out was the stunning patio. We sat outside in the warm sun, surrounded by lush greenery and colorful flowers. It was the perfect spot to relax and soak up the beauty of the city.

And speaking of soaking up the beauty of the city, we also attended a cooking class at the New Orleans School of Cooking. It was such a fun and unique experience to learn how to make Louisiana Meat Pies, Veal, Ratatouille, and chocolate pecan pies. The instructors were knowledgeable and engaging, and we had a blast trying our hand at these classic New Orleans dishes.

Overall, our weekend in New Orleans was an absolute blast. From the delicious food to the beautiful surroundings, it was a trip that we will never forget. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend checking out Up & Adam Eatz, Bearcat CBD, and the New Orleans School of Cooking. Trust me, your taste buds (and your Instagram feed) will thank you!
